Hillsborough & Rivelin Running Club

Its always a weird weekend when Hillsborough parkrun isn’t on, but its festival season and we had better get used to it.

HRRC were represented in all 5 parkruns happening in Sheffield today and as far afield as Porthcawl in Wales which was run by Philip Grant.

I’m going to start just outside of our fine city today with Penistone where Andrew Woffindin and Olly Eagle were celebrating a dual birthday celebration parkrun. At this very parkrun Mr short shorts himself, Mark Lawton finished 3rd overall with Hannah Beth taking 1st lady home position and a new course PB while a new course PB goes to tomorrows birthday boy Wuff. Oh, and Nigel Holmes , there were cakes. A new equation for all club members to remember, Hannah + milestone or birthdays = cakes

A bit down south and just east a little Sarah Imbush finished first lady at Ipswich, but! That’s not the biggest news here, Sarah has finally accepted HRRC as her club and she now appears in the parkrun results making my life easier. Welcome to the club Sarah, an introduction email will be sent out shortly.

Matt Noble stole the show at Flegg Hill by coming in numero uno and knocking over a minute and a half off his course PB. It's also been pointed out to me that this run was the fastest ever at Flegg Hill so well done Matt.

At Nant Y Pandy (made up name) parkrun Andrew Moore was 3rd over the line.

Michael Greer was 3rd overall at Frickley Country.

Natalie Neville was 3rd lady at Monsal parkrun at her first attempt with a 1st in her age grade.

At Rotherham Michael Slack took 13 seconds off his course PB while coming in 1st once again.

Back In Sheffield and Lucas Colledge has got a new all time PB with Sarah Moore getting a new course PB.

At Millhouses Thomas Harrington-Vogt got a new course PB with James Biggin finishing 4th overall. This is one of those “you wait ages a for a bus then 2 come along at once” moments because James has also changed his allegiance to HRRC. I may need a stiff drink.

So to Concord which served as a very good substitute to Hillsborough. Not sure which was the biggest cause of celebration here today, Jimmie Stuart completing his 100th milestone or Christopher Jones coming out of parkrun semi retirement to join in with the fun. Anyway HRRC had a very good day with 6 of the top 10 finishers wearing coral and blue (disclaimer, some runners may not have wore coral and blue) and 9 finishers out of the first 20.

Lex Nowhere brought the club home in first place from Jimmie in second. Party pooper much Alex

. Jimmie did celebrate the milestone with a new course PB. John Boden who seems to be getting back to full strength got a new course PB as did Jonathan Cooper and the aforementioned Chris Jones along with Chris Morton and Ellie Dodd.

I did record Concord parkrun on a GoPro today and I will post it as soon as I get my head round the shaky editing process, but be warned it’s nearly 23 minutes of me deep breathing and there is no commentary for 2 reasons, 1, James McNeil wasn’t available as he buggered off to Oz and 2, I was concentrating on running with a camera and bfreating without falling over.
